We are proud to announce our latest charity partnership with MS-UK, a national charity dedicated to supporting people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). Following our first successful partnership with the Spinal Injuries Association, we’re continuing our mission to give back to the disabled community and we’re excited to work with MS-UK to help make a meaningful difference.

A Personal Story Behind the Partnership

Georgina Colman is the founder and CEO of Purpl Discounts and lives with MS, as a disabled woman, she understands the impact of social and financial barriers and this is why she started the UK’s first disabled discount site. MS-UK is a charity close to her heart and so it was the natural partnership for Purpl to support for the next three months.

I’m delighted to announce our charity partnership with MS UK. Supporting the disabled community is what Purpl is all about, and this partnership is a meaningful way for us to give back. From April 2025 to June 2025, we will donate 20% of funds raised through our promotional brand activity to MS-UK. I live with MS and charities like MS-UK are a lifeline to over 130,000 people in the UK who are living with MS, on average, that’s about 1 in every 500 people.

Purpl saves our members money on your day to day spends, but we also create a community of understanding, support and awareness. Whether it is through our discounts, our money guides or our caring private members facebook group, disabled people can trust Purpl, because we are part of your community too.

Why This Partnership Matters

At Purpl, we believe in using our platform to drive positive change. Through this partnership, we’ll be donating funds to MS-UK, helping them continue to offer these life-changing services to thousands of people across the UK. But it’s about more than money, it’s about connection, support, and amplifying the voices of those who need to be heard.

We are pleased to be partnering with Purpl to support the disabled community. Many people living with MS experience disability of some kind and we are pleased to be working together to help make a difference.

What is MS?

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, lifelong condition that affects the central nervous system – specifically the brain and spinal cord.

In MS, the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the protective layer (called myelin) that surrounds nerve fibres. This disrupts the way messages are sent along the nerves, causing a wide range of symptoms depending on where the damage occurs.

Common Symptoms include:

  • Fatigue
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Muscle weakness or spasms
  • Problems with balance or coordination
  • Blurred or double vision
  • Cognitive changes (like memory or concentration issues)
  • Emotional changes and mental health challenges

MS is different for everyone, symptoms can come and go (relapsing-remitting MS), or gradually worsen over time (progressive MS).

There’s currently no cure for MS, but there are treatments that can help manage symptoms, slow progression, and improve quality of life. This is where charities like MS-UK make a huge difference, offering support, resources, and advocacy for those affected.

Who Are MS-UK?

MS-UK is a national charity formed in 1993 that supports and empowers people affected by multiple sclerosis to live healthier and happier lives by improving the understanding of MS and providing support where it is needed most.

They provide a range of vital services for the MS community, including:

  • A confidential helpline offering information and emotional support.
  • Choices booklets full of helpful guidance on managing life with MS.
  • A variety of online activities, including chair yoga, gentle exercise, and meditation to help people stay active and connected.
  • Peer pods, which create safe and supportive spaces for individuals to share experiences and build community.
  • A bi-monthly magazine, New Pathways, filled with real-life stories, the latest research, and expert advice.
  • Training for healthcare professionals to improve MS awareness and care standards across the board.

In addition to all of this, MS-UK hosts fundraising events throughout the year, inviting the public and wider MS community to get involved and make a difference.

Looking Ahead

We’re excited about what’s to come in this partnership, from raising awareness to raising funds and promoting MS-UK’s incredible work. Whether it’s through direct donations or spreading the word, Purpl is committed to standing by the MS community, as well as the disabled community as a whole.

I saved £32.58 this week with Purpl! It meant i could have a nice dinner with my friend money stress free! I only leave the house about once every 14-20 days, 98% of the time for medical appts, so it was a huge win for me to be able to go for dinner with one of my besties. I had a joyful day and I really needed that as recently has just been such a struggle physically and mentally!
